HOW DO WE BILL?

French Notaires invoice their clients either through « emoluments » or through « honoraires ».

« Emoluments » are assessed according to a mandatory scale, either fixed or proportionnal,to to the value of assets object of the legal transaction. They apply to legal drafting of every contract involving real estate, such as but not limited to, sales agreement or donations.

On the contrary, « Honoraires » are billed freely through an agreement negotiated with the client. They apply to legal and tax advice.

Moreover, when each party has their own Notaire, « Emoluments » are shared between them.
